Biography
Kazuo Yamaguchi is Ralph Lewis Professor of Sociology at the University of Chicago. He was department chair in 2008-2011, and was Hanna Holborn Gray Professor in 2005-2013. Yamaguchi is the author of Gender Inequality in the Japanese Workplace and Employment (2019) from Springer. Its Japanese version published in 2017 received the 2017 Nikkei Book-culture Award in Economics, and the 2017 Showa Women’s University’s Book Award on Gender-culture Studies. He also authored a fantasy novel in Japanese (2008), entitled Diversity, on the theme of valuing diversity, which was thereafter translated and published in Korean, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese.
